About Nicholas

I am a double bass TLC Scholar and Shield Award student and piano for my second study at Trinity Laban Conservatoire on the Masters in Music (MMus) full time, generously supported by the Rhona Reid Charitable Trust.

I have been taking opportunities to help out charity events and other organisations for performances in major venues, such St. Johns Smith Square, Cadogan Hall and Barbican Centre.

I have also taken masterclasses with professors. The experience of the jobs has benefited me a great deal in having the chance to meet other musicians and event organisers which gains me an advantage to keeping in touch with them for my future references.

I participated in the International Bottesini Competition in Crema, Italy. Preparing seven pieces of repertoire for this event was both challenging and rewarding, pushing me to refine my practice. During the competition, I had the privilege of meeting members of the jury, including Petracchi himself, and participating in a masterclass with Thierry Barbe, which was an inspiring experience.

Other experiences that have shaped me include playing with ensembles such as YMSO and ULSO, where I developed my understanding of teamwork and orchestral repertoire. With LSSO, I've had the opportunity to give back by mentoring younger bassists and assisting staff over the past few years, most recently on their music tour to Belgium. Additionally, my time with WNO, performing side by side with professionals, was invaluable. Sitting in the opera house and experiencing the sound firsthand gave me unique insights into professional performance.

These experiences have all contributed to my growth as a musician and as an individual.
